FAN: "FAN"TASTIC !!!

What's Good: SRK is mind blowing.
What's Not: Occasionally over-dramatized in second half.

Who is a FAN? One who admires his/her idol. Wants to live a life like his/her idol or one who wants them at all cost. SRK has been criticized for his bad choice of movies during past few years. As a trend set by other contemporaries of making money by gravity defying movies or "Masala" movies it was a shift to SRK to be more of businessman than actor. SRK's non-admirer were hool-a-hop on his choice of bad movies even his beloved fans were in search of a movie where they can loud-out his name. Well now we got a movie worth mentioning as SRK's best role since "My Name is Khan".

FAN starts off with introduction of Aryan Khanna(SRK) a superstar whose life is pretty similar to SRK's real life. Now with introduction of superstar comes his biggest fan Gaurav Chanana (SRK) who sees nothing out of his superstar. Gaurav's only dream is to meet his superstar once in his life.As he believes he is meant to meet his superstar so he follows the same struggle which his idol went through before becoming a superstar. By a crooked way he gets an opportunity to meet his star but it turns out to be a sour taste for Gaurav. Unable to handle rejection from his star he wants to get back to his star and make him realize he is nothing without his FAN. Whether Gaurav get backs his vengeance or whether the star was right at his stance is the rest of plot.

SRK as Gaurav & Aryan Khanna is mind-blowing. He is perfect to the core in every frame. To be true for a minute i didn't feel like Gaurav was played by SRK himself as his both character's are made opposite poles. Though everyone achieve great success in life and people might love you for that but playing a admirer who loves you is so insane and playing a character who is almost half of your age with that same energy, lingo, attitude, childishness, madness, etc is equally insane. Well hats-off to SRK as this role will surely be remembered for years. Shriya Pilgaonkar, Waluscha D Souza, Yogendra Tiku and others lends good support. Cinematography is top-notch and well shot. Background score is well suited to situation. Direction is fine but could have been neat. Script and plot fumbles few places in second half as it becomes over-dramatized but its fine as that can be given grace marks under "Cinematic liberty". Screenplay is great specially look out for scene where Aryan transforms into Gaurav in second half as its worth million of hooting and whistles.

Overall its not picture perfect but worth every penny smile emoticon smile emoticon

Batman v Superman - Dawn of Justice: Good V/S Bad [Mild Spoilers].

What's Good: Batman, some CGI shots, future plots for other DC heroes.
What's Bad: the great battle lasts 10 mins and 2.5 hrs of things to fall in place.

One of the biggest battle is set to conquer. A battle with expectations are nothing less than epic but does it survive sound of audience. Definitely No.!!! BvS is a mashed up plot for other DC superheros to connect. I surely went with rocket-sky expectations for BvS to fall under Zack Synder's shadow which he had earlier proved with Watchman, 300, Legends of guardians (which i truly loved), etc but this one falls flat on its plot which takes ages and ages to get interesting. Many people already told me its similar to comic books but i surely want something that is not there in comics/anime series.

PLOT - Story begins with Bruce Wayne's (Ben Affleck) past which is hounding him for years and how he is transformed into Bat knight. As Metropolis climax of "Man of Steel" had cities blown up between Superman v/s Zod fight and that city turns out to be Gotham City. Bruce Wane's properties are blown away and he feels Superman doesn't belong to earth so it's necessary to take out Kryptonic alien. On the other hand Superman's nemesis Lex Luthor gets hold of Krypton and is ready to make something out of world. Whether Batman gets his revenge from Superman, Does Wonder-woman takes sides and what happens to Lex Luthor's creation is the rest of the movie.

ANALYSIS: Ben Affleck as aging Batman is perfect post Christian Bale's version. I simply loved the idea of Batman not being "No guns No body-counts" kind of knight but they didn't introduce Batman gadgets & Batmobile well which is disappointing. Henry Cavill as Superman is fine nothing to shout about. Gal Gadot as Wonder-woman fits well and make a way for her upcoming projects. Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor is surprisingly good though he gave me glimpse of SRK from Darr (Specially when lex luthor wants superman to get his job done) watch that scene for sure. Zack Synder unfortunately failed in getting things in place for BvS, i feel he had the pressure to make more epic than Marvel's Avengers but failed. When you name a movie called "Batman v Superman" the battle between Batman & Superman should be superb because you have built the hype around that battle but it lasts hardly 10 mins whereas the runtime of movie is 2.5 hrs. Also the second trailer of BvS showed Doomsday, why was that needed because eventually everyone gets to know Batman & Superman will team up to kill Doomsday. First half of movie is just building political scenario around Superman which is supremely boring. Second half gets interesting with future plots for other DC superheroes.

Watch this one if you are DC lover.

Kapoor & Sons: A feel-good family movie.

What's Good: Almost Everything.
What's Bad: I wouldn't have minded if this movie could have trimmed down by 5-10 mins.

Once in a while comes a family movie which provides a simple plot with great results. Kapoor & Sons remixes old Bollywood plots with modern day presentation.I must say i wasn't very keen on watching this one except for Siddharth Malhotra (Dunno why) and one song "Chull" which has some awesome beats. To be frank i was taken by surprise by it's outcome.

Plot:Kapoor & Sons talks about how every family in the world has its own internal issues which the outer world is unable to see it. Not everytime the reason for family problems are monetary. We have this tendency to compare our family with others knowingly or unknowingly and give our expert advise on it but to be frank we know nothing about it because there are always layers to resolve. Coming back to movie, A broken family with happy-go-lucky grandfather Amarjeet Kapoor (Rishi Kapoor) living with cracked couple Harsh Kapoor (Rajat Kapoor) & Sunita Kapoor (Ratna Pathak) and their undone sons Rahul Kapoor (Fawad Khan) & Arjun Kapoor (Siddharth Malhotra).Due to grandfather's illness every one comes together to get their grandfather back on his feet. Harsh & Sunita kapoor are having a tough marriage with their issues whereas Arjun always feel Rahul is the best son and his parents love more than him with other issues to follow. How Tia (Alia Bhat) find a bond between them. How all characters resolve their issues for happy ending is the rest of story.

Analysis: Director Shakan Batra (Known for Ek mein aur ek Tu) has taken care of everything here from getting every emotions and plot right with a tiny loops which can be ignored. It gives back a feel of "Kal Ho Naa Ho" with situations which cracks up really hard and some light-moments to give that tiny smile on your face. Performances wise Fawad Khan and Rishi Kapoor stood out and overshadowed everyone. I went to see Siddharth Malhotra and came out being a Fawad Khan fan. He got each and every scene right like seriously full mark for his acting and emotions in each and every scene. Siddharth & Alia are yet to discover themselves and not grown actors, during climax when Alia is telling Sid about her parents which is a very intense scene she could have delivered a great act there but missed and also i had issues with Alia's costume department as it didn't go right this time. Similarly when Sid realizes his reason of frustration and confronts to his mom he missed it by miles. Rajat Kapoor and Ratna Pathak are great and provides support superbly. Music department has gone great job. Cinematography is out-standing as entire movie is shot in Coonoor (Tamil Nadu) with great locations.I always like cinematography in Dharma movies as they look rich on canvas. I feel Coonoor will be couple's next best destination as it's beautiful.

Verdict: Watch this one for feel good entertainment.
